Empty Vicious Nights (Broad Oak remix)

by Charity Children

/

about

Worse than the pain of knowing, is to not. 'Empty Vicious Nights' is a tale of a housewife's decent into madness as she questions her husband's fidelity. Thick, pulsating strings and hypnotic beat drive the anguished vocals to a crescendo - as the song builds, sanity departs.

Broad Oak (aka Monkey Records founder Nigel Braddock) recorded and produced Charity Children's acclaimed debut album, The Autumn Came, and here delivers a hypnotic cello-driven remix of the second single Empty Vicious Nights.

Says Braddock, "I like the original version of this song on the album but I always felt it could be darker and more intense to match Chloë's despairing vocal. For the remix I brought up the cellos and added some extra strings (care of Monkey artist John White on viola) and subtle keyboard parts plus a driving minimal club beat."
